Examples, translations, and choices lower the load while the pattern becomes visible.
Lesson 0.1
Learn Spanish by making the support disappear.
A useful course does more than show answers. It teaches you to notice a pattern, retrieve it, and use it for a message of your own.
Start with the method
Recognition feels fluent before it is fluent.
A translation can make a Spanish sentence feel obvious while it is still visible. That feeling is useful for understanding, but it is not yet the ability to produce the sentence yourself.
Nexo begins with meaning, lets you observe the language that carries it, and then removes support. Each harder step asks your memory to do more of the work.
Difficulty is not automatically a problem. A short, successful struggle to retrieve an idea tells your brain that the idea matters and should remain available.
A learning decision
You understood a sentence five minutes ago.
Now the Spanish is hidden and you cannot rebuild it immediately.
What should you do first?
The Nexo cycle
Each phase has a different job.
Understand gives the new idea a clear meaning. Observe shows how Spanish packages that meaning. Practice narrows the decision so you can coordinate the pieces accurately.
Produce removes the choices and asks for a message. Review returns later, when the answer is no longer warm in short-term memory.
You do not have to feel perfect before moving forward. You need enough understanding to make an honest attempt and enough feedback to know exactly what to change.
Know what communicative problem the Spanish solves.
Notice the form, order, sound, and contrast in examples.
Make focused decisions with immediate explanation.
Create Spanish without being handed the complete answer.
Retrieve the idea again after time has passed.
Two kinds of ease
Support helps you learn; retrieval shows what you can use.
A blank page or an unheard prompt reveals whether the pattern is available without the model.
Support is not cheating. The goal is to remove it deliberately, after it has taught you what to notice.
Read the evidence
You miss an answer, read the explanation, and answer correctly on the second try.
What did the correction accomplish?
Order the work
Separate learning support from independent evidence.
Place each activity under the role it serves best.
Name the cycle
Build the learner’s movement in Spanish.
Build: I understand, I practice, and I produce.
Observe a learner
Marina does not confuse a correction with defeat.
Listen or read, then identify how Marina learns.
When does Marina stop looking at the answer?
What does she do with the error?
Retrieve the sequence
Complete the learning actions without choices.
Type the missing Spanish action.
Make the method yours
Write three simple learning commitments in Spanish.
Write one idea with entiendo, one with practico, and one with produzco.
- Use entiendo
- Use practico
- Use produzco
- Write three separate ideas
Keep this model
Fluency grows as support becomes retrieval.
Use the phase that matches the work you need. First clarify; then notice; then make the memory carry more of the message.
What does the message do?
Can I coordinate the pattern?
Can I create it without the model?
End of lesson
Make the evidence count.
Complete 7 more interactions before finishing.
